Parrots, macaws and other psittaciformes, from nature to imagination "Loulou", the parrot of the novel "Un coeur simple" is at the heart of this exhibition and pretext to better know these magnificent birds. What is the connection with Gustave? The link takes the form of a blue-fronted Amazon who plays the role of Loulou in the short story Un cœur simple written in 1877.  In this story, Félicité, a humble servant living near Pont l'évêque, is given a parrot. "His name was Loulou. His body was green, the tips of his wings pink, his forehead blue, and his throat golden" Gustave Flaubert, A Simple Heart, Ch.IV To find inspiration and write perfectly the character of Loulou, Flaubert asks the Museum of Natural History in Rouen to lend him some naturalized specimens. But where does this link between man and parrot come from, and why are parrots so attractive? We propose to answer these questions in this exhibition to be discovered until November 14 in the park of Clères.
